Friend of Burton Kellerstedt
Hello Friends,
Even though I only found this forum recently, I can tell this is an excellent forum and strong community. My reason for joining is probably different than most. Please read on. I'm not a collector or surplus enthusiast. Not yet, anyway, but I could see that changing easily, ha, ha.
My Grandpa is a 93 year old WWII vet and still living. He served with and was at the Battle of the Bulge with Burton Kellerstedt (1925-2005), who was an active member here. A few days ago my Grandpa said he would like to get in touch with Burt. We found Burt's obituary. My Grandpa and Burt were very close and we have heard stories about him for years.
My Grandpa would like to get in touch with Burt's sons. It appears that Roy Kellerstedt may be in Waterford, Connecticut and Tim Kellerstedt in Burlington Connecticut.
Can anyone tell me what Burt's username on the forums is so we can view his posts?
And now some artifact discussion. My Grandpa was at the Battle of the Bulge with Burt when Burt was shot in the helmet (while he was wearing it.) The bullet penetrated the helmet and spun round the inside of the helmet. This threaded the inside of the helmet much like the threads of a nut. I'm wondering if there are any photos of this helmet which we could view?
My Grandpa was in the 319th Infantry, 3rd Army Division.
Thank you for reading.

If you had an old email address, it might help us cross reference our database to see what username he would have used here ...

Thank you! We don't have an email address or any contact information. So, I guess this is kind of a shot in the dark. At any rate, this is an interesting forum. My Grandpa doesn't use the internets, but I will show him this forum.
