Here is a pic from a thread posted long ago, notice how the Trimble is stamped heavier on the left side just like Scott's . Also, I'd imagine that if the stock got wet the end grain of the wood where the sling cut is woul swell up causing the letters to shrink a bitAttachment 53183

Just my opinion, but I think you should leave that carbine alone. It looks like a nice, early post WWII re-build that has probably not been messed with. It looks to have been refinished during re-build and will be costly to restore. I think it's a shame to restore fresh from re-build military weapons when there are so many guns that have been through an arsenal more than once or altered since being released to the civilian market.

I don't think he wants to give it a full restoration, just put on as many QHMC parts, after all we determined the barrel has the wrong date

correct. I'd just like to shoot it and collect the correct parts to trade out for the ones I have. I am not refinishing it etc.

I have two stocks with Augusta Arsenal stamps. One is AAD without serifs and the other is AAK with serifs. Both are smaller letters and closer spacing than the AAY shown. This most likely means nothing since who in their right mind would forge rebuild stamps. Just my 2 cents and probably overpriced.

I just purchased a NPM with a Trimble stock.

I'm looking forward to receiving the weapon next week.

P.S. You have beautiful stock on a nice purchase. Beware, the Carbine virus can be debilitating! (To your Bank account)
