Offset Sling Swivels on M1917
As all of you know the sling swivels on our M1917s are offset, unlike any other military arm, at least that I'm aware of. I have looked over the knowledge base material and while these swivels are discussed a bit, I could not find any reference to which way they are installed, nor the purpose of the offset. I imagine it is to better tailor the gun to left and right handed shooters but don't know for sure.
I just installed my new Ron Brown sling and would like to know if it is set up correctly for my right handed use.

The swivels were made offset so that the sling would not interfer with the use of the volley sights on the p-14 rifles so they are off set to the right side. When they changed the p-14 design for the 30-06 they changed as few things as possible.

I had a hunch it was the one due to the fact I have never seen one like that before.
