Tippins marks
Robert303, I have purchased the Lee I posted about. It has the same Tippins mark as yours on the knox form, but does not have the Tippins engraved trade name on the receiver side wall. It has a barrel mounted target sight, no fancy side folder like yours. Like yours, it is a CLLE, with an SMLE style bolt with no cocking piece mounted safety. Interestingly, it also has a DD number next to the main serial number, not that many digits off yours. Mine is DD846. I'll try to post some photos in the next day or so if folks are interested.

Interesting that Sgt. J. R. Tippins, the son of Luke Tippins, was K.I.A. serving in a machine gun section. You'd think a marksman of that ability would have been useful as a sniper or instructor. And yes, I know the Army likes to make chefs into clerks and clerks into cooks!
