    But this is not an ex-factory hand-stamped recoil plate - it looks as if it may have been overstamped - please look carefully just above the XC79.
    Or is that just accidental scratching? If so, how did it get to be scratched just there. Hardly in normal use, but maybe during dismantling/reassembly???

    And the 7 and 9 do not look as if they belonged to the same set of number stamps, let alone the same set as the XC.

    Pretty tatty for a presentation, wouldn't you think?

    There is a basic rule for evaluating these dubious objects - look at what you see - not what you expect to see, not what you hope to see, not what someone with an ulterior motive says you ought to see, but what is actually there - unaffected by any fanciful stories, wishful thinking, hopes to have struck the jackpot etc. etc.

    And I see a carbine with a mucked-about recoil plate in a spoilt shaft. Period.
