Ishy 2A1 trade
Hi All,
Just put a '65 Ishapore 2A1 in Kali jail. Traded a Savage 69RXL straight across for the Ishy. The Indian has some issues with cracks in a couple of places in the forearm and butt (will #1 furniture work?, have 2 complete spares). Sling (no bayo), and the other fella threw in 100 rds. milsurp ammo and 35 rds of .30-06 PMC SP, because I had to travel to him. 150 miles round trip, twice, with the Kali transfer wait.
The Savage was an ex-cop shotty I picked up for dirt a while back. I'm happy. Picts when it's out of jail.
This is number 2 for me. I've got a '67 that came pre-bubbad. PAX

Thanks Tom, good to know about the interchangeability. I'll put it in that and see if the original is repairable. PAX

Finally!! Kali DOJ gave me grief on this one. Went 85 miles one way to start the 10 day wait and pay the extortion fees, only to be held up by the DOJ for delay delivery. No determination was made after 30 days, so it was returned to the seller by the transfering FFL (store policy). He in turn sent it to my local FFL, at my cost. Picked it up from my guy yesterday. Her she is. Has 2 home crack repairs on either side of the TG, and an arsenal repair on the top rear of the butt. I have a couple spare #1 stocks, but the crack fixes seem sturdy, and if they fail, I'll swap it out. I would have made a real killing on the deal, but with the travel fuel and extortion fees the first go round, the shipping and my FFl's costs the second time, added about $185 bucks total. Still into it cheaper than retail. PAX

Sure looks nicer than mine which is coated with thick, chipping ugly black paint. Can you tell what exactly that somewhat worn finish is on yours?

Ridolpho,
Most have the ugly black flaky paint ( or have had it in the past), I think the original finish was parkerized/ phosphate then painted, I stripped mine back to the original finish and is the same as above, once the old varnish etc was removed from the woodwork it was a dramatic improvement, most of the screw threads were knackered and most were packed with paper, card resign , glue etc.

Nice looking example! - Although i would be wary of those forend cracks on an Ishy (personal experience). I would advise checking the draws integrity and fit up before sending rounds dowrange and recoil through the assembly. Still a nice score despite the Kali runaround. Cheers!

I also recommend looking into why your front sight base is canted the way it is. It is canted to the right in relation to the nosecap.

I'd guess the forend is warped. I've seen it before but in the other direction on another 2A1 rifle.
