I'm going to guess you're correct. I'm also guessing that he probably had a Nagant revolver that he thought was an 1892 revolver. SMH.........

The Nagant cartirdge is smaller in every category other than length. So while it might fire in the French
, I can't see it being accurate. It's doubtful it would blow up as it would have a hard time developing high pressure due to gas escape. Plus commercial Nagant ammo is underpowered as it is.
So it might fire but why would you want to?
