.303 Projectiles for Aussies
Hi All,
I have been in contact with this mob in NSW:
Extreme Outdoor Sports | Hunting | Fishing | Diving | Snow | Online Shop
They sell Barnaul Ammunition and I asked about Barnaul Projectiles and they said they will be getting some in the future.
Contact them with expressions of interest so they know what we are after.
This is the website from the importer in New Zealand with a list of projectiles from Barnaul
BARNAUL - PROJECTILES
They said there is a 174gn projectile available that is not listed

I thought you guys down under couldn't have guns? Didn't they take them all away or did our news media lie again?
Thanks

Your "media" were just getting a little "over-enthusiastic" in flying their true colours. (And drooling at the possibility of having the same regime imposed in the US).
The sky pretty much fell in back in 1996/97: lots of restrictions, lots of paperwork, rapidly rising costs.
However, we persevere.
Not only because we CAN, but because we MUST.

Our laws are an exercise in what happens when the people who make decisions lack any understanding. For the average shooter:
Semi-autos are out (because a Ruger 10/22 is somehow more dangerous than a bolt action centrefire)
Pump action shotguns are out (but pump action rifles are fine???)
Semi handguns with barrels of 119mm length are out (but 120mm are safe, also something similar for revolvers)
Handgun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are out (we are only dangerous with 11 or more rounds)
There are exceptions for farmers, security, some collectors and commercial shooters but for the rest of us, our options are restricted. But the shooting scene is alive and well!

Thanks guys for telling this. our media portrayed, that all guns were taken and burned at the stake.
Been "Down under" 2 times in 1990, loved it there.

Catman:
I have often wondered:
Which is more dangerous: Incompetence or Malice?
Having collected a large amount of the paperwork published by the sundry organisations and individuals "responsible" for our situation, "incompetence" is NOT a factor. This, of course, only leaves............

Bruce, I can't agree more.
And your also correct about how to cook a frog without him jumping out of the pot. As Costello said : "inch by inch, step by step" slowly turn the heat up.
Australia sure is a beautiful place. If I hadn't of been married at the time I was down there, I would have never come back. ( Should of stayed-she divorced me anyhow)

I have used aprox 800 of the 174 barnall pills from the NZ importer and they work ok,not as well as the hornady 174's but a lot cheeper!
My only concern is the tests that got done with AR's that showed barnall ammo wore out barrels faster then other brands-not a big issue with a ar but for a collectable it could be
