I44,
I stated earlier in one of these 2 posts, that I like to take pictures as I break one down. It really helps to reveal wear patterns.
Yes it was returned after being cleaned in detail.
This picture will show as received, before cleaning:

After being cleaned:

Soon he'll be dropping off the LT. COL Colt 1911.
I'll do the same with it, but post on the .45 forum here.
Thx,

Nice work! What did you use on it?

Coat with Hoppes #9, let sit, soft bristle brush, repeat often, letting set overnight wrapped with rags soaked again with #9, then wrapped over with plastic to keep the #9 from drying out, then again soft bristle brushed.
Very lucky it was just a light film that had started.
Could almost make out the hand (palm) print from when it was last stored away years ago, with out being wiped down.
Got Lucky,

Dave,
I'm not sure when Inland dropped the Cannon Ball in the slingwell.
I have a Hi-wood, I cut with the OI, Flaming Cannon Ball and a small Crossed Cannons Stamp. Circle P proof on the bottom of the pistol grip.
Members had told me they thought it would be correct for early 4 digits, IIRC.
Nice stock, but had to glue a small grain split near the edge of the Hi-wood rail about 3" long, again IIRC.
On the right rear side, where we find later Inland CC stamps it's been sanded smooth. Thinking it may have had a painted rack #, a ink stain or just sanded to look nicer. Either way you can feel the flat spot.
I stripped it to do the grain repair. I should dig it out and swap or sell it.
That reminds me of 2 WRA stocks I also have tucked away along with some other makers.
1 WRA is a long channel type III style, but has the extra cut for the recoil plate support IIRC, not sure if it's a converted or made for M2, because it has the selector cut out.
The other WRA is weird! Type III short/regular barrel channel. But has the M2 cut also, BUT: Has a boxed GHD on the right and a boxed SA over C on the left??
Those 3 are on the top of a stack and easiest to get to, to look at.
Also remember having 2 extra RMC stocks. 1 or possibly both needing some repair, but have good RMC stamps.
I should get busy on them, but it looks like I'll be remodeling the hall bath very soon.
They delivered a new tub, sink and tile Monday.
She's already bought what looks like all I'd need for it.
I get her HINT
Thanks your question reminded me about part of what I have laying around.
Cheers Buddy
