    Something must be rubbing or binding, look for marks inside the wood to that effect.

    Problem solved on another forum, thought I would post here for general knowledge.
    It turns out that the steel magazine box can be removed and reinserted upside down. Looks just about the same both ways, but if it's in the wrong way the trigger won't pull.
