Question H&K G3 magazine conversion for what?

Purchased this odd duck recently. Only because I've no idea for what rifle it's intended! At first glance it looks pure "Bubba" but then one notices the spot welds on the added lugs fore and aft.

Anybody have a good idea as to what this 7,62x51 cartridge dispensing thing is supposed to fit?

Mfg date circa 1981 makes it even odder for a conversion, if it's anything "legitimate".

    Rear lug added:

    And front lug:

Side reinforcements were cut away, but the feed geometery seems unchanged:

Some sort of "fanasty" rifle built up for the civilian market or a third world kinda deal?

You can make magazines to fit Valmet 76 model from G3 steel magazines + using AK47 steel magazine locking tabs.

2 magazines in the middle are modified G3 magazines.
Magazine on the right is original Valmet 308 magazine.

I found this elsewhere, but it seems correct.

Just a guess, I think your 7,62mm magazine is for the AK-103 ?

Yep, AK family for sure. It looks like a Zastava M77 to me.

I don't believe so Jim. The Valmet uses a magazine very similar to the G3. Where the Zastava M77 is different. Although slightly different (probably because of manufacturer and a smaller capacity) the below pictured magazine looks the part.

Didn't mean to sound so definitive Bill, I just wanted to show you what I was talking about. I think you're likely right...

Jim, never took it that way.

It's funny because I've seen G3 magazines converted to fire in all kinds of weapons. They are dirt cheap. Of all 20 military magazines at as little as $2.99 a piece they make a good place to start I guess.

Thanks, y'all! Funnily enough, I bought a whole ammo can full of G3 mags for no particular reason some time back, just because they were under US$1 each. Either the Zastava or the Valmet would be more interesting for me than even a 'sho 'nuff H&K, much less one of the clones. (Way back whilst working my way through college, our shop was an early H&K dealer. Had my fill back then.)
