Just as a matter of interest for you trials and other very early No4 owners, that the SBN XXX (there were a few different numbers) code under the bolt handle indicates the steel mix code as in Steel Batch Number (the SBN).
There, another little bit of useless Lee Enfield knowledge for you
Just checked old photos and SBN165 on both A051- and A071-

This is a bit of a thread dredge, but I'm collating info on trials No4s at the moment and came across this thread. For the record it looks pretty clear that the original scope number has been struck over with the rifle serial number. No clear reason why, but it would be a way of obscuring the fact that the scope fitted did not match the rifle number.
