When are they going to decided how to register this .... I have one i bought a couple years back and use it with my Rock Island 45, but i have to seperate it to and from The Gun Range. Even at the Pistol and Rifle Club, they get concerned about it. (By the Way THIS is NOT mine)

I guess we're lucky here in Canada
then...it was registered from the first day they saw it. (That takes away the worry that you currently have) I HAVE thought about getting one though...I think it would be great with a can on it...

Well here even in Texas, the Gun Club I belong too, stop selling these due to the confusion of how the would classify this and I had a couple of friends that ordered them and they gave them there money back and they were thinking they ran out but no, they said they had to put a hold on it cause of something had happened, i wish i remembered, but i will post it when i talk with him. But mine i have to separate it when i travel according to my DPS Trooper that lives a couple of houses down from me.There fun to shoot at close range. But I like it.

Did they register it as a handgun or rifle, cause my CCU has a SN on it just like the one they use on my handguns when i buy and fill the form out.

In Canada
they register it by it's self. If no number, then they'll assign one.

Does anyone else reading this have no idea about what they are discussing? I see no pics in this thread.

There is no gun registration in Texas.
If you're talking about what to put on the 4473 background check form, the receiver is the pistol frame.
MechTech - 1911
In legal terms, it's no different than the Mac 11 carbine uppers that have been around for many years.

The dark side of these uppers is that they permanently convert the legal status of your pistol frame into a rifle frame. If you attach the Mech Tech to your 1911 pistol frame, then you cannot legally revert that frame back to pistol form unless you first register it as a Short Barrel Rifle via ATF Form 1.*
