I have to say that marching with an L1A1 at shoulder arms was far better and comfortable than marching with a No4 at slope arms. It didn't take long before your left arm began to sag and droop. All you really had to worry about when we changed to L1A1's was to keep the right thumb in line with the seam of your trousers - or strides as we called them in Oz! But whatever...., you still got shouted at regardless!Information
