M1 Recoil Plate Screws
Today i went to a Gunshow for a little while, but going back tomorrow to Pick up what i bought and i saw 2 really nice Inlands 42 and a 44. 1 was for looks only and the other was forsale for 1400.00. I noticed both had the x on the screw head of the recoil plate. I looked cause mine has one but the books i have so far say this is a Winchester thing. I also seen a post i forgot who it was but said that Inland used them late and a couple of others, then i saw a vendor selling parts and i bought 4 of these screws. I don't know why i did they were 5.00 a piece. Was this seller correct, Thanks
Frank

I understand they were used by Winchester as well as Inland. The "x" or "xx" is the screw manufacturer's marking. I think they usually go for closer to $10, if they're not buggered up. - Bob

The X marked screws are only valid on Winchester. None were sent to or used by Inland.

I don't have access to the Carbine Club information, but here's a link to one thread in our forum that gives the impression that Inland did use some of those screws. Also, in that thread is a related link to a CMP
forum thread. Now, I need to know whether I should change the notations I've made in some of my reference books?

No problem, Frank. That was a very nice original Inland. The owner is a member here, and I noticed other Milsurps members stating in those threads that they have orginal Inlands equipped with the "x" screws - one even has a presentation Inland with the "x" screw. The Carbine Club has probably received data sheets from those members. - Bob
