Unusual Type 99 Safety
I have a Nagoya Type 99 First Series serial number 23011 with a safety unlike any I've seen before:

The unusual one (right) compared to one from a Nagoya Type 99 no series (left). They are interchangeable and function flawlessly. Has anyone encountered something like this before? Any insights?

Was it modified by someone with a triangle file? Just by hand like?

I have seen Arisaka
rifle data sheets that show grooved safety knobs !................

Have not seen a Type 99 safety cut like that. Nor a Type 38. Serial number on front post?

Years ago I had one that was crudely done like this. It looked to have the original finish so I just figured it was done when built.

Three digit number on safety post is 331, with flat-top 3's and the 1 laying on its side rotated 90 degrees counter-clockwise. The sides of the safety do retain some finish.
