Considering a good no4T v a modern Barnard action doing 1/4 MOA or better.....um I'd pick the latter all else being equal especially if the ammo is as old as the "T"!

A shoot off between my L42 and my F/S Barnard over 3,4,5,and 6ooyds mmmmmmmmmmm. To be fair the glass on the L42 needs to be as good as on the Barnard then all bets are off. The HT, T and No3T using hand loads would be close. Pity the last 3 are not new to see just how good they really were.

We are confusing things here chaps. A sniper rifle is not and never will be a target rifle. Snipers don't just appear at nice flat grassy firing points, dropped off by car or Land Rover, believe me

Still haven't had a crack out of my 3T yet. It all looks to be in very good condition, so expect it to shoot better than I can. I'll use the poorer scope of the two, if it fails I'll find as good scope as I can that will fit the rings and see what we can do.

You'd better bring it up one day and have a shot on the new range.

Portable mound?
Wife's effort at 700M with her Barnard with 155.5 Bergers X ring is 127mm in Dia the 4 at 6 o'clock is a sighter we forgot to cross it off hence the large group size still a 60.08 is ok with 8 of those shots in there I do not run in a straight line believe me
, my No.4 T will never match that and besides P L is spot on with his reply snipers do not carry a nice flat cosey mound with them.....

Granted Peter about the trip too and the nice comfy FPs, but the accuracy has to be as good first time every time.

Yep....., accuracy has to be good but it has to be good AFTER a lot of stalking and even after a container/CESP air drop too. When it's cold and wet and........ And if accuracy was the bee all and end all, then the P-H L81 rifle would have got the cigar. A sniper could never really compete with a target shooter. After all, we really want to HIT the person in the torso. If it kills him, even better. Just my take on things

Some of the rifles that are being built out here now days would fit into the air drop class. The sniper does the same wind/mirage readings the target shooter does the only real difference is the transport and ETs or manuals don't shoot back.

That would be a great idea... save me from going to Seaham. Do you have a program printed or on line so I can try to line up a day?
Thanks, mate!
