Removing cosmoline from wooden stock on my m94

Need some advice on how to remove the remaining cosmoline from the wooden stock. Advice from true collectors. Nearly done with the receiver and other bits but I want to clean up the birch better than it is.

I've seen many recommendations look it up on Utube many recommend heating the wood up and wiping it down as the cosmoline weeps out of the pores. heat it up in the sun and bake it, heat gun, or steaming, I am not a fan of steam on wood takes too long to equilibrate back to normal moisture levels after treatment and not warp.

I used a hair dryer and paper towel. A heat gun is too hot. Also heard about wrapping in paper towel and put in a black garbage bag in the sun.

Thank you Robertk7 and 25-5 for your responses on ways to safely remove cosmoline from wood. I to have viewed many Utube videos using chemicals , hot water , brushes etc.... I do agree with both of u that the Sun Baking method is the best. My stock just needs a good uniform cleaning. I would never think of stripping it down to wood.
Took the old 94 out last weekend and my son and I shot it while taking a break from quail hunting. That is one nice weapon
