Just a standard issue magazine pocket. The early magazine pockets were made at Rock Island Arsenal and by Mills Company, with those made by RIA being leather, and those made by Mills being woven. The one shown above is dated 1914. Production of the leather pockets was limited with RIA being the only one making them, while the canvas pockets were manufactured by multiple contractors during WWI.

That follows, I would think their survival rate would have been much shorter...haven't seen many.

Picked one up on Ebay today Johnny, nicely marked dated 1913 for 75.00, I thought that was a fairly good buy.
