I put an NC star copy of the Aimpoint on an M4gery and it shock the lenses loose in less than a year. I'd be afraid an 8mm would do it in much less...?

So, I am assuming that no one makes a long-eye scope with a higher magnification! But, thanks for the info. I will look into the S&K mount as well as keep doing some research. I do believe there are some mounts available that come from Yugoslavia
that are rifle-specific. I just don't remember the name and where to get them. Please keep me in mind in case you hear anything. Right now I am shoot Yugo ammo 197 SP's and having admirable accuracy for military sights. Thanks for your input.

With Claven2's help, I built an M48A repro sniper a few years ago as well.
I just did a search on the phrase 'zrak" here and a few old threads from 2007 turned up, as well as I've posted the photo album for the one I built, which I have since sold.

m48 Sniper-Repro's (old 2007 thread)
Some other sites that you might want to look at ..
Texas Trading Post's M48 Mauser Sniper Rifle WEB Site (Click Here)
Field Expedient Sniper Rifles used during the Bosnian Civil War (Click Here)
Hope this helps ...

Zrak out of the former Yugoslavia
made scope mounts for the M48 and they were used in the recent civil war there. As mentioned by steve the M48 is an intermediate length action, a little shorter than the standard K98
. Yugo mausers are some of the best shooters out there as many of the German capture K98's were rebarrelled by the Yugos with brand new barrels.

There are long eye relief scopes out there with high magnification but I wouldn't recommend them. The higher the magnification, the less you can see in the scope and with the long eye relief, this can make it very hard to find the target and it also doesn't really seem to help "see" it any better when you do it. I have a 2-9 on a Thompson Contender and anything over 4 is useless.
