Nosecap is (re)numbered to match the rifle.

Forend number is in the wrong place, and on a Enfield forend that is typical of recently available stock - and not contemporary to the supposed date of the rifle.

IMHO the rifle is a recent rebuild from parts.

Yup! The number is definitely in the wrong place, plus the stamps are frankly just too perfect for a rifle of this age, and it's an Enfield stock on a BSA rifle. Also slightly "off" that it has the dent on the stock where the front stacking swivel usually goes, but that swivel isn't there. The nosecap has definitely been restruck and there is too much wear on the bayonet boss for the condition of the rest of the rifle, if it was legitimate.
