Colt 38super ser #'s
Does anyone know where I might find info on a colt 38super ser#. looking for date of manufacture. and possibly where it was first shiped to. I've tried Colt's web site but it was no help. the pistol belonged to My Dad, I'm sure he probably got it new, but from where and when??? most likely when he was in air force in Texas in the early 50's but not sure.
Thanks for any help,
Dave L.

What's the serial number? ("X" out the last digit if you want but don't "X" out any letters.) I doubt anyone here can tell you where it was shipped but someone might know the year of manufacture. If you need more info, you will probably have to get a Colt letter at (I think) $125, but check their web site.

It is the Commander Model, a shortened, light weight version of the Government Model. They are nice guns. They were also made in .45 ACP and 9mm Luger.

yes it looks almost identical to the 45 comander. and it is a very nice shooter. I've shot and reloaded for it for years. just struck me though to find out more info on it after seeing one sell for nearly $9000.00 (ser # 3 of coarse).
Conductor:
thanks, that puts the year at about the time Dad was in Texas.
