A newbie(NUG) here. Just acquired a Ross Mark II* to go with the bayonet I inherited from my father. I was surprised to note the bayonet fits very loosely around the barrel. The bayonet it dates 2/17. I was also surprised that the rifle has no SN. I guess that was not unusual.

My first rifle was a 1891 Argentine carbine in new condition that my dad and I bought for $15.00 at Montgomery Ward. If nothing else, this should show you how old I am. Lots of WWII stuff since then. Many sold or traded, I should have kept every one. Deepest regret was when I sporterized my 20 dollar DCM carbine only to realize years later that it was one of the first made. Have a small collection now of Garands and carbines. These are all keepers.

New 03A3 Owner
Hey all,
I just purchased a Springfield 03A3 30-06 and I hope that this will be the right place to have some questions asked.
I look forward to all of the knowledge you have to impart.

Hello , this wil be my first post as a member , it is regarding a 1903a1 rifle that my Dad left me in '96 , the rifle is in very good condition ! slight damage to stock at buttplate and to slight scratches on the cutoff side of the reciever , that I can repair easily . the issue is I cannot pin down exactly when it was made ! the barrel is marked sa 12-35 , the bolt is stenciled with two serial #'s . one matches reciever ser.# 1505183 , bolt ser# 1505183 and lighter one is 354697! I can only assume that it is refurbished or at least the bolt was replaced , not sure . it would appear that it was taken from an older model and refitted to this rifle . would love any help as to finding out , serial is not listed anywhere I can find , the rifle was obtained from the Philadelphia armory around 1953-54 , when my father was commanding officer there! I remember it in a bag and cosmolined as a child ! Any help appreciated !
