Gunbroker Auction
Inland M1 Carbine : Curios & Relics at GunBroker.com
Serial number falls in the range where the integrated N-A marked rear sights were used. Appears to be original, as manufactured.

That is sweet!!! It does look as though the stock has been sanded and varnished or some other finish applied and shows evidence in the oiler slot. Nonetheless a beautiful late Inland.

Newscotlanders word is good enough for me.
But Ole Dipp has some baggage he drags along.
I don't trust him.
But even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.

I agree with you. But this one looks good.

Would feel better seeing detailed pictures of the dovetails.
I have a Inland 5,061,??? mil with .U. flip sight, very much like one owned by USGI collector Dave.
Both have the chisel type stakes.

I agree looks very nice.
He's got lucky and had one walk in!

Yeah, I was going to say that the seller has a not so great reputation. I have have seen some real "pieces of work" from him that were labeled as all original, un-messed with and as left the factory in some of his descriptions. This one on the surface looks good I have to admit. I still wouldn't buy anything form him. It's a shame too that he's from the same state I am!

Not real clear, but picture #32 shows what appears to be chisel type stake marks. What's the big "X" mark in the slingwell mean? - Bob

USGI-Bob,
Pic 32 magnified up to 300% does seem to show chisel stake on the front and possibly the right rear doves.
It's just that this seller has been around the block, so better pics of this would be expected.
No idea about the X in the slingwell.
In all a nice Inland, but just don't trust the guy, let alone let him profit to hump and sell something else down the road.
We tracked him before by watching the serial numbers of mixers he had bought.
He waits long enough for his GB transaction to 'time out' to where you can't pull up those past auctions, then pops up with a 'original' for sale to a live one.

Yep, I remember studying some of those threads when I first started out here -learned a lot from them. Went back over most of those you linked to again today - was a good refresher course. That "X" looks like it's closed at the bottom - reminds me of a TeePee. Thanks! - Bob
