    Not a No1 at all, the No 1 designation only applies to the SMLE & then not all SMLEs are No1s.
    If the rifle is marked SPARKBROOK 1895 II then it did not have a safety.
    If marked SPARKBROOK 1895 II* (the difference between a II & II* is the safety on the cocking piece) or SPARKBROOK 1895 LE1 then it did have a safety on the cocking piece.

    Not Sparkbrook made rifles but other than the factory name & the year the markings are the same.
