Maybe yes. I googled a lot but did not came to any solution for this acronym.

Those are really lovely places.
I was in Castelletto Ticino last night. Its the far southern village in Lago Maggiore, where Ticino river is flowing and is coming out from the lake.

VAR barrels are of Danish manufacture. VAR= Vaabenarsenalet= arms arsenal.

In Danish it is spelled Våbenarsenalet

I can see the drawing number but it's hard to make out several of the digits. I dug my Danish return M-1 out of the safe and it has D 6535448 with a 7-60 date of manufacture. I assume the drawing numbers will be the same.
