    DeLisle Take Down

I was rummaging around in the Gunroom earlier and came across a couple of old pics of my pre handgun ban take down DeLisle. Apologies for the Crappy quality but they're photo's of photo's

    Cheers,

    Simon.

Ok, so DeLisle didn't make a scoped take down version but it was a project concept built using an Enfield action a .45 ACP Thompson Barrel and a removeable Moderator manufactured with a swirl baffle.

If it matters to you that much what it's called you come up with a name!!!

I haven't lost a lot of sleep about the name I have to confess but a delisle look-a-like/clone/take-down seems fair enough to me. But it's still a bit like calling a Triumph TR7 a sports car.......

Back to the subject though. Wasn't there always some dispute, even among Police Forces as to whether this was or wasn't legal after various changes in interpretation (they call it the law of unforseen consequences). There was one case where one was legal in X county but went to a dealer in Y county for repair who wouldn't let him have it back because it was so-said UN-lawful in that county. Even redder faces because on that basis, if they prosecuted the possessor for possession of the unlawful' weapon, then they must also prosecute the Chief Constable in X county for permitting the offence AND, to really rub salt into the wound, prosecute the dealer in Y county for now possesing the firearm.

I think Wiltshire was one of the contestants.........

What a prize that would be in a collection today!

    Thanks for posting.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Simplicity itself to make if you were that way inclined. And not nearly as complicated as a delisle either. The one I saw was based on a much simpler No4 body (can't see that one clearly.....) On the other hand there was someone on this very forum making absolute replicas - as indeed there is in the UKicon, described as 'museum quality'

Pre 97 owning it wasn't an issue, not so now unfortunately. A full scale accurate DeLisle reproduction would require the use of a 10" barrel meaning it would fall foul of the law. The take down concept would now fall foul on two counts, firstly it had a 10" barrel. Secondly, even if it had been the legal minimum 12" barrel, the removable butt made it considerably shorter that the 24" overall length required for it to be a section 1 firearm.
