A bit of practical advice from a shooter, not a collector:
If your carbine is shooting satisfactorily, do NOT remove the recoil plate. This is a "pulling up the plant to see how the roots are growing" action. Whether original or not, the plate has been bedded in from recoil plus hardened gunge. If you remove it and clean it and the stock cut-out, you may find that the grouping and POI has visibly altered. POI and accuracy are also affected by the tightening of the front band screw, which tends to make the band pull sideways. You might not notice the difference for plinking, but you will for serious target shooting.Information
