That's a mod done somewhere along the way. Some civilian owner I'd wager... The brass buttplate looks out of place too. I may be wrong on that one though.

The buttplate isn't brass. The camera flash makes it appear that way.
I sort of figured the comb area wasn't typical but I wasn't sure if there were variances in certain years. I am surprised though how nice the wood is internally for 115 years old.

The wood isn't 115 yrs old. Its a replacement stock that could've been installed up into the 1980s.

Yes, it has a stock disc. As mentioned, I removed the barrel and the numbers stamped into the wood match the rest of the gun. But I suppose they could have been stamped in. There is no doubt that something has been done.
