As collectors of historic military weapons, so often those who never fought in battle see our passion as a love of guns. In reality we collect guns as symbols of the heroism, courage, and commitment to freedom against some very dark forces that have threatened civilization. Any country that waned in this commitment became extinct. Most people don't realize that in the 20th century, psychopathic leaders from Kaiser to Hitler to Stalin to Mao to Pol Pot (and others) waged wars that resulted in the deaths of over 160 million people. Had we not taken up arms to preserve our nations, we would have returned to the Dark Ages that followed when Rome's fortitude waned.
Every historic weapon I own, from the Committee of Safety musket of the American Revolution to the Enfields and M-1s of WWII, are proud symbols of fortitude and the willingness to sacrifice one's life to stand against evil, injustice, and genocide. That's why I write a history of every gun I own to provide future generations with a documentation of where and how the gun served to protect our freedom and symbolize the heroism of the ordinary men that performed extraordinary feats because they believed in a cause greater than their own self-interest.
Unfortunately the winning of a war never seems to stop the relentless attack on free people by dark leaders. "Semper Vigilius" -- Ever Vigilant
