To be fair burb there was no heated debate. Members "including me" we're trying to point out to you the helmet your fathers wearing in the photo and the one you received can't possibly be one and the same. As pointed out in that thread the Camo pattern doesn't match and neither does the "hand" drawing. If your happy that's all that counts.

Exactly what I was trying to point out then warpig (but probably not as clearly as I could've been). The one in my dad's photos was of his very first helmet cover that was damaged after an attack later in his service. He received a second helmet cover (the current one) after the attack and shortly after that he was taken off patrols and became a driver for his captain. I don't have a photo of him with this particular helmet cover so I was using the older picture as an example of the artwork he redid onto this helmet cover while he was at base. Sorry for the confusion back then.

Anyway let's stray away from the negative and bring it back to the positive shall we (and sorry for going so far off topic from my original post). I don't like to dwell on the past and I'd rather let bygones be bygones and move forward. As to bringing it back to my original topic I still hope everyone likes this honest example of a well used (but no so greatly taken care of) helmet with its own great history.

Yes, WP, those were two different helmet covers for sure and I saved the photos to point out the differences side by side. The 'finger' drawing was very widespread at that time (and I know why) but they were two different covers for certain, even though they looked the same at first.

Exactly Harlan. My dad had two helmet covers during his service and the one I have pictures of is his first cover while I have his second cover in the flesh here. Like I said earlier I should've explained it better to everyone the first time when I originally posted about it and I could've avoided getting that post locked. So now with that clarified let's all move on.
