Length of L4 without barrel?
I have bought an L4A4 and, while I wait for it to be delivered, wanted to get a drag bag/shooting mat to allow me to eventually haul it to and from the range. I have found one that I think should work but it will be a squeeze to fit the full length gun in, but it should work well if the barrel is removed. I have been unable to find a measurement for the distance from the end of the stock to the front of the bipod legs (ie full length without barrel). Anyone know?
Thanks in advance

Exactly 36.5" from the rear of the butt plate to the tip of the gas plug locating/alignment prong at the end of the gas cylinder. BUT, be warned that if you are thinking of carting your gun about without the barrel, the gas plug locator on the gas cylinder is VERY vulnerable and sticking out like a bulldogs balls, is easily damaged. You CAN straighten it out if it bends - BUT ONLY ONCE! You can also replace a gas cylinder but................
Best advice is to cart it about assembled

Thanks Peter. I was unaware of that. Last time I stripped down a Bren was in 1986 when I was in the ACF, so memories are a little rusty
