K31 front sight tool

I'm in search of a K31 front sight adjustment tool. Years ago I did see them advertised but don't remember where.

Ebay has one for $85. also saw a utube video showing how to make your own.
I drifted mine myself and had no issues, there were witness marks on the sight that weren't lined up must have been original mark from previous sight in, when I first shot it it was hitting off left (might have drifted the blade in shipment/handling) i lined it back up and it them shot dead on no issues.

Yes, I think I found the video you mentioned. They converted a nut splitter into a sight tool. Interesting.

None of my K31's have the sight aligned to the original armorers mark. It appears that the sights have been intentionally misaligned since each blade is in the same position. Like you when I realign the sight to the original alignment mark they shoot dead on. The sight blades are in tight though and taking a punch tool to realigned gives me an uneasy feeling hence my search for a sight tool.

The front sight blade on my K-31 was aligned with its witness marks, but shot about 2" right at 100 M using G-11 surplus ammo (too bad it is berdan primed.) Used a brass drift to move it, with no problems, and no marks left on the sight blade.

No problem!

Either RWS 5627 or Finnish Vihtavouri 5.5mm "Kemira" "No3" primers are perfect. There is also a Russian 0.217" Berdan primer made for their 7.62 x 39 ammo that pops up in bulk from time to time.

As long as the primers are not RIDICULOUSLY heavily staked in, the RCBS tool will remove them easily. I just finished "recycling" a couple of hundred Berdan-primed 8 x 57 cases. I have been scrounging and recycling Berdan-primed cases for over forty years.

The good old Lee "Autoprime" will install the new primers OK; you just have to watch your seating depth. Lee make dies and a shell holder for the 7.5 Swiss.

If you can get fresh GP-11 ammo at a good price, go for it, and consider re-using the excellent brass topped with one of the many "match" 165-180gn .30cal bullets out there.

You are already shooting an "eccentric" rifle; why not get into "eccentric" ammo as well?

G-11 surplus ammo is around $300 Cdn a case here, if you can find it. I have deprimed a few cases with a sharpened punch, but that is slow process. If I can find Berdan primers, in quantity, I will buy the RCBS berdan decapping unit.
The G-11 ammo is great stuff, though, wish I could afford 5-6 more cases of it, buuuut, I can't afford that right now.
I have tried some 155 gr FMJ's - not as accurate, so far, as the G-11 stuff. More load development needed or go to a heavier bullet weight, something around 180 gr. and see how that works.

I've seen a lot of front sights messed up with a punch because these sights are really in there. Use one of these.

This is a Swiss Armoury issue adjuster. They're expensive and difficult to find. We have a pair of them here.

That's a good idea, could maybe be modified with several other rifles in mind. Cheap enough to get several and mod them specifically for those sights.
