An Old Soldier Fades Away
On March 17th, two days after his 86th birthday, my father passed away. Of all his accomplishments in a long and productive life - faithful husband, devoted father, college graduate, chemical engineer, business owner, private pilot, etc - the landmark accomplishment of his life was serving his country in World War II as an Army combat medic.
So, if the mood suits you, please take a moment to raise a glass to the memory of:
Technician Fifth Class Paul M. Henry, Jr.
Medical Detachment, 354th Infantry Regiment, 89th Infantry Division
European Theater, September 15, 1944 to December 15, 1945

This we'll defend,
Arthur Henry

We and our country are diminished by the loss of every one of these veterans.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Hey VI,
Sorry for the loss of your hero.
Read more than once that soldiers in battle consider combat medics to be the bravest men on the field.
