WW2 German U-Boat clock
Just got this last week a WW2 Kriegsmarine U-Boat clock made around 1939 by Kieninger & Obergfell co solid brass water tight case with a 8 day movement. I collect a lot of military time pieces and weapons but being ex US Navy I got more nautical stuff I thought this is just cool in the office. If any of you seen that movie Das boot there that part of the movie were they are getting depth charged and bolts are popping with water coming in then the U-boat clock crystal shatters just like this clock.

This movement uses the Maltese cross in the movement to keep more accurate time and only 4-5 winds I have Chelsea and Seth Thomas WW2 US Naval clocks they take a lot of winding the German
all ways made quality stuff but in small numbers we just out produced them.

Not just U boat, but Km ships clock in general.
I've had mine for about 45 yrs. It keeps as accurate time as any clock in the house.
I've also got a 24 hr US Navy wall clock. It is about 3" larger than the Km clock and is a bakelite case. Don't have a photo of it on the thumb drive I'm using.
The km clock hangs on the wall in my gun room and the USN on the living room wall.

In our instrument shop at the big workshop in Malaya we had a wooden cased, glass fronted 24volt clock that was used as our certified accurate and calibrated clock. Always set to Zulu (GMT) of course. I was told that it had come from a Lancaster or a Lincoln bomber before it came to us. Like most things there, it was just left for the Malayan Army when we all finally pulled out. It would have been so easy to just pick up and 'liberate'. If only we had the foresight then.
