A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. How does an articulated platform work? Will one work in this magazine body?

Can the original platform be modified?

Difficult to explain but the mag platform is in two parts, joined but allowed to articulate to take into account the curvature of the mag necessary for the taper of the cartridges. Probably have to get rid of the guide to allow it to articulate. Simple.........

    Vincent,

    Re: ZB39 Magazine

I can tell you "the articulated platform" won't work for 7.62x54R. I've tried it. You have to remove the box spring guide under the follower to have the articulated follower.

The articulated follower will work for 7.62 x 51 Nato but the last round will jam or not feed. Grinding about .032" of the horns of the magazine follower will solve the "last round" issue (difference between a rimmed and rimless case).
