They were on garrison duty during WWI in Hawaii and didn't see combat.

The notation on the rifle was from 1932. At that point the 25th was scattered among several posts. Due to the unpopularity of stationing Black units near cities, they could depend on being sent to the most remote and inhospitable places.
The 25th was part of the 93rd Division during WWII and saw service in the Pacific.

I got the rifle from the CMP
a few years ago and I think they came from the Greeks so its been in some far away places in the last 104 years. thanks again for the information.

The rifle in question appears on an Ordnance inventory Document of rifles on hand
at Camp Harry Jones/Douglas,AZ.In 1932 the camp was being deactivated.Both the 22nd and the 25th had been stationed there and both participated in the First and Second battle of Norgales,during WW1 when Mexican troops lead by German
Officers made incursions across the border from Mexico.

SRS has a LOT of notations for the 25th Infantry - I wonder if they're all from this same list you mention?
