Original Matching SVT40

I recently acquired the SVT40 at 1941 Tula SVT 40 Sniper . I think it's an original sniper, but not sure. Also, given the repaired cracks at the wrist, is this rifle ok to shoot? Any and all comments welcomed.

You've been told already on another forum - it's not original sniper and it's not "all matching" rifle as magazine is mismatched. As for shooting God knows who fixed that repair so you better find the stock just for shooting.

We don't know how the wrist was repaired, so get yourself some string and use it to test fire your gun. If it holds together, it's ok to shoot.

I might be tempted to just find another stock. I've seen guns like that from being over a fireplace and collecting soot for years, also from being too close to fire. I don't see anything to make me think it is any kind of a sniper rifle.

It does have the cutout on the top rear of the receiver for retaining a scope, so MAY have been a telescope equipped rifle.

From what I've read this particular letter pre-fix doesn't appear amongst those of known snipers and the s/n is a bit high for a '41 factory original. Maybe one of those that was field converted? That would be better than an all out fake I reckon.

From what I see in the photos, I'd shoot that rifle without any hesitation!
As for matching - I'd say it is regardless of whether or not the mag matches. I don't think I've ever seen or heard of an SVT with a factory original matching mag - that is one that is stamped, Not etched!
As far as the scope notch, I don't see enuf to tell me for sure one way or the other.
