Looks good, I have one a little later in the year. Serial # match under firing pin plate?

Correct M1911A1 shipped around May 1943, I can guess German
proofs on it as this pistol as been sold commercially, I can't see the other mark front of serial number, looks like a number.
Is the serial number match slide & frame? ( under the firing pin plate)

I just picked up a colt 1911a1 s/n 9178XX but it does not have any initials or an armory stamp on it anywhere like the ones posted above. The slide and frame match serial numbers. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

I have a 1943 Colt no. 848611. The inspector stamp on mine is a W.B. in a box. Hope this helps. Nice looking 1943, looks close to mine.
