Can't imagine anyone here saying that...we're just the opposite.
I've been told that the markings on the scope notch are held in great confidence so as to prevent fakes. I can understand the concern, but I think it's in vain.

I've seen it on other sites and have even encountered it here in regards to No.4 T's, 1903a4's and a few others. There's some that are quite anal about posting pics of the notch because, as militaria states, they felt it would be of use to the counterfeiters in turning out fakes. It's not only the markings, they may or may not have markings in the notch from what I've read, but also the shape. As I understand it at one time the notch was used to identify a factory original SVT 40 sniper from those modified in the field or an all out fake, now there seems to be enough info available to identify them by s/n and pre-fix alone.

Excellent photos!! I do not think this is an original sniper for two reasons - lack of the proper markings on the right side of receiver and more importantly the serial number. Looks like a nice SVT40 and would be fun to shoot with a scope - might as well take advantage of the notch! You might as well post pictures of the non-factory notch, too.

Here's the album for the notch. The verdict is still out on authenticity.

It's been mentioned by a reliable source that not all original sniper rifles had the right hand receiver C marking. I have also been told by the same source that the notch may be. factory expedited.

The part I love about the people who want to hide the notch from the internet, all say just PM or Email me pictures of the notch. Not accusing anyone of trying to repro them and passing them off as real here, just saying if you email a random person the pictures then how do you know they aren't a scammer trying to make a new one? Might as well post for everyone instead of emailing specific people (who may or may not use that information to there advantage).

Yes, but most '41s have the C mark and ALL have serial numbers below 2000. That said, I think your rifle is very interesting particularly the markings around the notch. I'm not an expert and I don't know anything about factory expedited snipers from Tula. I think you are talking to the right people, though, and may have something very special. Thanks for sharing and good luck in your search for facts about your rifle!
