Could I ask the members of the forum for some help? We see discussions about 'Bubba'd' rifles and about sporters I was wondering what was out there. At the moment I have neither a bubba'd or Sporting rifle although I'm thinking about a sporter. Any chance members could post some pictures of the Ugliest looking / Best looking Bubba'd and Sporting rifles they have or have had. Just for a bit of fun. Thanks.

Don't have any bubba'd/sportered Enfields. Will these do instead? From the the top:
Argentine M1909 Mauser.
Siamese Mauser in 45-70 Gov't.
Arisaka T38 re-barreled but still in it's original 6.5x50mm chambering.
Finn M1891 Mosin Nagant. Part of the scope mount is made from 11ga. aluminum angle. Amateurish and uglier than a bowling shoe but rock solid.

Here's a comment about Bubba I made today regarding his horrific desecration of an otherwise pristine Mk2 from Thread: No4 Mk2 marking on stock
(perhaps words are more potent than pictures in this case)

"After the gun was sold as surplus, it landed in the clumsy hands of Bubba, who, with carving skills that wouldn't pass a beaver's standards, gnawed the "1" in butt stock. It was probably his ego's delusion about his personal status in the world now that he owned a powerful rifle. Bubba's tribute to himself would personally irritate me if I owned the gun. ............ Bubba's blunder is like owning Bubba's XKE Jaguar with a proudly displayed set of 1960 Cadillac tail fins glassed onto the rear fenders, or a vandalized Mona Lisa after Bubba painted a moustache on her lips. The mark reminds me of beautiful Egyptian and Greek statues that had their noses lopped off by Saracen marauders to show the impotence of their vanquished foes. Or like an alpha-male dog that has to p**s on everything to show his dominance over his staked-out territory. ....... Dents, dings, and scratches can be steamed out or sanded down. But sacrilegious desecrations need more than minor touch-up work, they need ritualistic revival (IOW, replace the butt).

OK seeing as how you asked so nicely here is my 1916 no 1 MK3* Enfield deer rifle, the stock is hand made and sports a 20" South African Jansa barrel.

Here are a couple I have done for myself. I am more inclined toward the Lee speed but finding (and affording) genuine rifles is beyond my budget so I make them from the long lee rifles that are quite common here but all have been "sporterised" to some extent. This one had a stuffed barrel so after a little bit of playing in my shed I changed this


into this with buffalo horn accents. An unused no 4 barrel was given to me for a stocking job on another for a friend so it was only the cost of the blank over the cost of the base rifle to change it from a ex mil to a very useable rifle

This was the start of another that I did for myself



A 25 inch x 40 cal barrel was sourced and a 405 Win reamer which I ran in so I could load the slightly shortened case (2.410) with a 320gn cast bullet to 3.040 C O A L. I get 5 down in the magazine that I made an insert for so it would center feed and am more than pleased with how it has emerged from the plans.

Have done a few more for friends but they follow the same style and make a very good hunting rifle that is quick to mount, fast to swing and a delight to use.

How about a 1931 No. 4 Mk 1 Trials rifle butchered pretty much beyond economical restoration.....cut off sight ears, bobbed barrel, ramp, and polished to a fair thee well.
