Need original barrel drawings.
Gents,
Does anyone have the original barrel drawings??
Doesn't matter what Mark, what I am needing is the specs for the interrupted threads portion over the chamber.
Also....would be VERY helpful to have the original receiver ("body") drawing sheet that shows the same interrupted thread specs inside the barrel lock ("breaching up") area of the front of the receiver.
And, Yes, this means I am working on new-made barrels.....

Thanks to some very generous individuals, I now have the drawings I needed!! This is a GREAT collection of people here!! ;-)))
One last request....does anyone have a torch-cut front section from a parts kit that has the barrel locking area fully intact?? We need it to do CMM data gathering and fitting impressions on the new-made barrel threads.
If anyone has such a hunk laying around, I'd be most appreciative to borrow it for two weeks; I'll pay your shipping both ways out and back, and make it worth your while.
If you can help, Pls contact me offline, PM or email.

Open question as of now/still, Peter.
When I get the actual costing down, I will almost certainly post a survey here (and elsewhere) as to what people would prefer.....with no guarantee that is what I get made. It looks right now that a "short run" will be in the neighborhood of USD $240.00 per tube. That is an "open ended" quote with no definite exterior profile quoted yet......just the rifled (.308/7.62mm, 1-in-10" button rifled) blanks, cut to length and chambered, then have the interrupted threads cut around the chamber area. NO other barrel assy parts supplied, you'll need to pull and re-install or supply your own other parts.....
Final choice of exterior profiling will amend the cost, though not by much either way.....truthfully, I'm really only considering three options:
- "Mk II" profiled
- "Mk IV" profiled (and length)
- "NO profile" (completely rifled, chambered, and interrupted threads prepared, but left on a straight wall tube forward of the chamber area......so people can then turn the profile to their liking.
All three would start (or end in the case of #3) as straight wall tubes, at the "Mk II" OAL length.
Of primary importance.....ALL/ANY of these would be made to the "South African"-pattern of 7.62MM NATO caliber barrels....that is, they would have the reduced-length chamber area that is made to fit the unmodified original .303 BOLTS. To use these in any receiver then, all one would need is to procure a proper "8mm"/7.62mm extractor for the std bolt, and a suitable magazine........I am assuming the use of unaltered ZB39 mags initially, although I have calls out to two stamping houses now on quotes for a made-to-spec new-made .308 magazine based on the ZB39 exterior fit.
There is also the potential for something to come of working with the MagPul .308 polymer Pmag.....not sure yet. It's looking like an interesting thing......and they're right here next to me....

Now that Sarco has Bren L4A3 parts kits for sale will you be considering make a run of the correct L4A3 7.62 Nato barrel profile?
I still have 2 of the Interordnance 3 cut Bren MK2 kits and will use one to build up the L4A3 and the other will be completed in 8mm utilizing ZB26/ZB30 magazines. .303 bolts and South African .308 Bren extractors.
I would be interested in 2 of the correct L4A3 barrels and 2 of the South African pattern to use with the 8mm Bren.
My ultimate wish would be a way to modify the 8mm Bren to .30-06 (like Taiwanese Type 41 Bren prototype) but that would take manufacturing a dedicated .30-06 magazine about 6mm longer than ZB26 magazine.

Hi
I am looking for some barrel drawings for the Bren.
I am making some 7.62 NATO Bren barrels and I need the drawings for the barrel.
I have made test parts and the threads fit the barrel nuts. At least 7 mm square threads thread on the barrel nut.
I am not sure how to time the interrupted thread cut out to the lead of the thread.
I am not sure of the gas port hole size for 7.62 NATO.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I make barrel from solid bar.
thanks
jcbinc.

Thinking on my feet here....... But couldn't you simply re-manufacture the .303" barrels by boring out oversize - theres PLENTY of meat there - and lining them to 7.62,, if you are making from solid anyway
