I pondered that idea too BAR as I became the proud owner of a couple somehow. Would make a nice shoulder fired 50 BUT...... In the UK semi autos are a big NO, NO! I had thought of de-gassing it, removing the gas block and pressing a stainless steel bush over the gas block part and making it hand cocking. Then how do you fit a shoulder stock was the next problem........ The next problem was the non availability of the short round. Reloading was simplicity itself but the reloading of cut down standard cases was impossible because the brass wall thickness at the point of cutting down was too thick to form............
But it's the thought that counts..............
Hey, Tom, we're talking about the little M8C .50 short spotting rifle fitted to our 120mm tank and anti-tank stuff........

And when bolt guns are available that are better to start with and not kick the guts out of you...the question begs "Why"? Always wondered though...

Peter, was the Browning 30 cal Mg used by the British Army in the mid 1970s as an infantry support weapon mounted on a tripod and not on a vehicle, please? In the book which I mentioned it's not 100% clear.

Definately not issued as an Infantry machine gun. However................. At Warminster during the late 90's when the last Brownings were being withdrawn, where there were always a lot of courses being run we were knee deep in thousands of belts and belts of .300" blank. In order to use it all up, .30 Brownings were used in the ground role in 'defensive' positions just for effect and use up the remaining ammo.

Oh, Dear Lord, THAT hideous thing...??? :-)
Totally forgot about that piece of pipe. On of the local guys here, Lon Laufman, has a couple he shoots, one original, one re-welded. Loads for it too. Not sure what people will do when the surplus projos all disappear. I see the magazines for them pop here and there.....not too many privately held.

Just a heads up on these sling-loop plates/stocks.
I grabbed the other one I posted about, full Mk III stock with loop plate that I posted images of above in this thread. If anyone wants to acquire it......PM me. Its the exact item pictured in those images, NOS unissued.

There’s something about these sling loops…… for some reason they make me want to open a bottle of beer.
