The FN and Imbel FALs' grips flared out at a different angle than our SLRs did. That is to say there is more of a difference between the angle of the front of the grip and the rear of the grip on the FAL.

Now that is a very fine collection of rifles DakTo ... and your C1 is a thing of beauty ... started my C1 build with a back sight, with grateful thanks to Jim, so only the remaining 90% to go now

90% percent to go. Seemingly, every time my parts box acquires several extra parts I see a new build coming.
I did pick up a very nice earlier C1 kit in the marketplace at the FF and the wood is NOS and the parts have all been refinished in a dark gray. I always wanted an earlier C1 companion to the 8L Check out Marstar Canada - Main Page for a few things you may need.

Anybody got the collapsible Para butt used on the FN?

This is the lower receiver stamp on my 8L. The question: Is it original and if so how did it escape from Canadianicon Military inventory?

Other markings on the upper commercial receiver compliments of the original builder.

Your rifle traces back to the late Pat Jones, doesn't it? He used to offer custom engraving services for FN's and SLRs, including Canadian markings.

Other than that, the only other sources (both pretty unlikely) for an original marked lower I could think of would be a.) an ex-Ontario Provincial Police rifle that went first to Britainicon, then came back to the Canadian civil market before the ban, or b.) an ex-civilian-sale rifle that got parted out. I understand a *few* of the ex-OPP rifles made it into the US as parts kits.

Afternoon DakTo, many thanks for the info, I have examined various options for obtaining C1 parts here in the UKicon with a view to building a C1A1, Jim kindly sourced me a backsight and woodwork is a possibly, but the receiver, TMH and bolt group sadly appear beyond reach this side of the great pond.

Still, I won't give up and will keep attempting to look for these parts, you never know!

Very envious of your superb collection!

    Cheers John.
