For both that was a pretty good deal. Until the bidder gets hit up with all the auction fees.

Both were refinished, so not a great deal in my opinion.

There were 3 bidders to start out with in the crowd . One dropped out at $1400.00 . The second one was known dealer who was placing bides for someone he was taking to on his cell phone . He stopped bidding $1550.00 .You could see he was in some kid of panic as he trying to redial his phone . The bid when to $1600.00 the auctioneer asked if he was all done , he said he lost contact with the buyer and was trying to make contact again . The auctioneer said going once, going twice, sold for $1600.00 . The dealer went over to the to the guy who won the auction and offer $2000.00 for just the No. 7. the new owner said, thank you , but was not interested in selling . The Dealer said his client was beside him self and had to have the No7 to complete his collection and to name the buyer's price !! So it seems there may not be that many No7's currently for sale, that are complete with refinished stocks or other wise in used condition that have not had the wood redone .

I'm not crying for these people:

"The dealer went over to the to the guy who won the auction and offer $2000.00 for just the No. 7."
So the client and dealer made a real hash of that auction. If the item was worth 2000 to the client, he should have given the dealer the OK to bid up to that limit BEFORE the auction.

"The new owner said, thank you , but was not interested in selling."
    Good for him!

"The Dealer said his client was beside him self and had to have the No7 to complete his collection and to name the buyer's price !!"

Incorrect, the client did not "have to have". Buying No. 7s is not compulsory in any jurisdiction that I know of. He just wanted it badly, but failed to put his wallet on the line accordingly with an appropriate limit.

Well said Patrick the idea of having a bidder is to have a top target in mind and if it starts to get close then call up to either readjust or let it go, one would have thought they would have had a clear line of communications established prior.......
