At the risk of "boring" you all...
... here is another mystery object. I am starting with a photo of the bore, and will add details piece by piece until someone guesses correctly!
WHAT IS IT?

Pat,
How's about an ENFIELD 3 BAND MUSKET in 451?

Thanks for the fast reply.
But Enfield? With 7 grooves and an octagonal barrel?
Think again!

Pat,
Why not ??? I have seen such a beast with 7 spins made by Enfield in 451, its in the Leeds Museum. Not sure how big the barn door was when they trilled it though lol
If not Enfield it has to be a Whitworth Classic

Warpig is getting close! No cigar, but maybe a cigarette.

OK, time for some hard facts, or rather, dimensions:
Bore diameter 0.605". Rounded grooves, with groove depth a whopping 0.025" - see photo of slug.
Barrel length: a trifle over 70 cm. Or, as the makers would have said, "28 Zoll".
Believe me, that really narrows it down.
C'mon Warpig, get digging!
More tomorrow.

Reason: Big Mistake: barrel length 70cm, not 75cm

Hmmm? The last two clues seem to have flopped.
OK, now look at this - a very distinctive feature.
