Peter,
Correctemondo.............Jaguar J60 4.2-litre petrol engine, a brilliant power pack which rarely went wrong, but with all tanks since their inception, loved the fuel.
There were issues in the early days I remember concerning the tracks coming off at high speed and being launched over the turret causing a few deadly issues.
'Tonight my men and I have been through hell and back again, but the look on your faces when we let you out of the hall - we'd do it all again tomorrow.' Major Chris Keeble's words to Goose Green villagers on 29th May 1982 - 2 PARA
No its for the person who has trouble with other road users, lane hogs come to mind just think you could clear the road ahead and imagine a tailgaters eyes pop out when that turret swings around and they are looking up that rather large hole.......I want one!
THAT --- and for the b******s who come out of a cross street onto a stopped queue of cars and block up the intersection for me when the light on my street goes green!
Actually, I do. In fact, I was back in Oz when that happened, but had previously lived not half a mile from the depot from which the tank was stolen when I was there on contract. He drove (and was shot in killed) near where I had been working during that particular contract.
It happened in San Diego IIRC. He stole it from a NG and hung it up on the K medium on the freeway. Officers cut the hatch hinges and just stuck guns in a blasted!
There was an APC stolen from one of the Army depots around Perth in Fremantle way that went on a bender crushing/crashing allot of stuff until the driver/thief was taken down by the TRG alive, talk about being insane here is a good one we had an AFL star that had and addiction to drugs that breached the perimeter fencing of a certain place which he must have had real issues with judgement or could not read at the time. It was the location of our SAS Regiments barracks he was lucky. One = he was not seriously injured or shot B = the courts showed leniency. As this is a Commonwealth property the Govt takes a very dim view of people breaching the laws on access.
