It's for the sten sub machine carbine. It looks like a basic pouch with dividers. The first ones were cut down lanchester mag pouches.

this one was roughly 12 by 14", each pocket was formed by stitching the front to the backing (from memory the backing was one piece but i only had a quick look), not like the lanchester pouches shown on a google search.
again it it similar to this sten? pouch but not the same. aka 6 pockets, mk1/2 pouch press studs, no carry sling, belt loops etc on the back.

think the lovechild of the pouch above and a US thompson pouch with some recessive early patt 37 press studs thrown in.

Sorry, I can't picture it. The one you picture is the second type. The earlier one(MkI?) has a large front flap with press studs and is parallelogram shaped. Let me look at Peter Laidlers sten book tonight.
Does it look like a Thompson SMG pouch? Some were made in the UK

all of the pockets have individual flaps and it is a rectangular shape not a parallelogram.
i'll try to get some pics next wednesday when i'm back up that way. (it's an hours drive from here)
