No4 MkII and Belmont ammo
Picked up a Fazakerley No4 MkII several months ago and it came with two boxes of Belmont ammo. The rifle has the best trigger of any milsurp I have ever tried by far. The seller told me his sporter shot better than this rifle did with that ammo so I was not expecting great things especially considering it was remanufactured military type ammo with 150 gr spitzers to boot. Was pleasantly surprised to find it pretty darn accurate with a 2 1/4" group at 100. This is slightly better than my best group with an M1A
National Match. I would like to duplicate this load but no clue what the specifics are on powder and bullets. Anybody else shot any of this stuff prior to it drying up? Any bullet/powder suggestions?

Cannot help you with Belmont ammo as I think it is a collectable now the stuff I used was lets say scattergun type absolute cr*p, if you are going to reload get yourself some good books AR 2209 is good for the SMK 174 pills AR 2208 is pretty sharp but also good in the Lee's. I used Hornady 150gn FBSP went really well using 09, Fed-210 primer and RP cases that Belmont brass is probably ex Ball ammo pulled. I think with hand loaded ammo you should get that group to at least 1 1/2 inches. Just keep in mind Lee's are not the strongest of actions and trying to wring them out with hot loads is not really recommended. Besides a deer or pig is not going to tell the difference or care if the bullet is going 50fps faster than a recommended load when it gets hit.......

Thanks for the info. I suspect that alot of my guns actually shoot better than my results let on and the 2" zone might be about as good as my eyes are capable of aligning with irons. The first thing I noticed with the L.E. was that the sights are about the best of any irons I have used and probably contributed to the group more than its own accuracy potential.
