Well, I went and battle sighted the "BTDT 603" on the 50 yard indoor range today! OMG, I love it! If I closed my eyes, it was 1974 with DI Prater coaching me through battle sighting my M16A1! Sure I love a shorty, but there is nothing more pure retro than a 603 or 604 build.

The JT worked over 1/7 barrel from Boywonder777 is AWESOME! At 25 yards, I had cloverleafs from both 55 grain Federal/Lake City M193 and CBC MK262 MOD1 OTMs with 77 grain Sierra Match Kings. I used an M16A1 sight in target, and had POI 1" below POA at 25 yards. DEAD NUTS ON! I love the AIM Surplus Nickel Boron BCG. With the Type D stock, it passes for chrome and gives me a poor man's XM16E1!

The only bad news is that it has a tight chamber. While it functioned flawlessly on the factory loads I tried, it hated my 55 grain handloads! 1 out of 3 would not chamber, even with a whack from the forward assist.

I can't bear to Californicate it and make if "Featureless" so I can lose the bullet button and 10 rounders. It is as intended, and I have my Mini-14 and featureless mid-length carbine in progress to fill the high capacity need.
